Allegheny Mountain Institute Farm at Augusta Health
Allegheny Mountain Institute (AMI) is a 501(c)3 educational nonprofit, whose mission is to cultivate healthy communities through food and education.
The AMI Farm at Augusta Health is a joint venture of Allegheny Mountain Institute and Augusta Health to raise awareness about the importance of healthy eating and sustainable growing practices. AMI and Augusta Health share the vision that access to excellent health care includes access to healthy food. The project is rooted in the missions of both organizations to promote health and well-being in the community.
The AMI Farm at Augusta Health also offers classes that are open to community members. From nutrition topics to regenerative farming practices to cooking classes, the AMI team is dedicated to building and educating a healthier community.
The AMI Farm at Augusta Health is a placement site for AMI’s Phase II Fellows. This 18-month Farm and Food Fellowship prepares and empowers individuals to become teachers and ambassadors for a more vibrant and accessible local food system. After spending six months living, working and learning on AMI’s Allegheny Farm in Highland County, Fellows spend a year in non-profit service in Augusta and Highland counties.
